Finding something in nothing…

My Favorite Movies

This page is dedicated to my joy of movies. Here I will discuss the movies that I like and the details that I know about them. I have a facination with where movies are filmed, whether they are true stories or not and the actors who play in them, and oddly – whether they are alive or not. I may also list some of the movies that I highly do NOT reccomend. If you have favorites that you would like to share, please do. Also, please tell me why you like them, etc. I love information as I said previously… so share away!

One of my all time favorite movies is “If A Man Answers” 1962 staring Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin. This was the first movie I had ever seen Sandra Dee in and her beauty just captivated me. I didn’t know at the time that her and Bobby Darin were married when they filmed this movie, so that just added to the enjoyment of it. It is a cute movie that is as light and bubbly as 1960’s movies go, but I guess that is another reason why I enjoy them. The color in 60’s movies is so vibrant and the storylines are so make-believe that it is not stressful to watch them. Sure, some of the acting back then was a little corney, but at that time, people went to the movies to get away from the stresses of life… not relive someone elses. Now days, some movies stress me out more than my own life so I just can’t watch them. The story behind this movie is kind of funny regarding comparing a marital relationship with dog training. It sounds odd, but the movie makes some sense in that department. This movie is out on DVD and I would recommend it. Here is the trailer:

Another favorite of mine, though I haven’t seen it in a long time, is “Dream A Little Dream” 1989 staring: Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Meredith Salenger. This is a sweet movie that has all of the charm of an 80’s teen movie. I have to say that my favorite part is the Theme Song (the rock version RCA records, performed as a duet: lead vocal = Mickey Thomas). This is the type of movie that you have to pay attention to or you may miss something important. If you do not like movies that go back and forth between reality and dream sequences, then this movie may not be for you. One down side to this movie though, that I do not like is the new age practice that the older lady engages in to bring the movie to a close. Probably one of the reasons that I enjoyed this movie so much way back when is because I had a crush on Corey Haim, but what pre-teen girl didn’t? You can purchase the DVD. Here is the trailer:

Another one of my favorites is “That Funny Feeling” 1965 staring Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin. This is another quirky 60’s film that makes light of misunderstandings to the hilt. This romantic comedy was nominated in the 1966 Oscars for Best Original Song by Bobby Darin, “That Funny Feeling”. Here is a music/video clip of Bobby Darin performing this song:

The Plot: Joan Howell, (Sandra Dee) plays a housekeeper, who begins dating wealthy businessman-playboy, Tom Milford (Bobby Darin). When Tom wants to bring her safely home after they have an accident, she claims to live in a much nicer apartment (one of her employers homes who is away) because she is embarrassed about her over-cramped apartment that she shares with her roommate Audrey (Nita Talbot). What Joan doesn’t know, is that this employer is Tom. Tom goes along with this out of curriousity because he is enamoured with her beauty, though he does not know that Joan really is his housekeeper. On top of it all, Tom’s best friend, Harvey (Donald O’Connor) has very valuable paintings hiding in Tom’s apartment and he is absolutely convinced that Joan will sell them. If you are in the mood for a light hearted comedy, you will really enjoy this movie. I recommend it. Here you can purchase the DVD. Here is the trailer:

Here is the best Jesus movie of all time called, “Jesus Of Nazareth” 1977 made for television, staring: Robert Powell, Anne Bancroft, Ernest Borgnine, Claudia Cardinale, Valentina Cortese, James Farentino, James Earl Jones, Stacy Keach, Tony Lo Bianco, James Mason, Ian McShane, Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasence, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quinn, Franco Zeffirelli, and a myriad of other stars. This movie accounts the life of Christ from preconception (before Mary and Joseph became engaged) up to when Jesus assended into heaven. The acting is exceptional and really brings to life the scriptures while staying true to what is written in the Bible. Robert Powell really captured the essence of Jesus in every scene, not one is lacking in depth and perception with clarity and realistic portrayals of each character. This movie is a must have. Here is one clip of the movie, this scene is of the Passover meal:
